Health Care

With the help of Steve Brouwer and his book Revolutionary Doctors: How Cuba and Venezuela are Changing the World’s Conception of Health CareĀ , students were given an introduction to health care and medicine in Cuba. Speaking with Connor Gorry, an American journalist working for a peer-reviewed medical journal in Cuba, and a visit to ELAM, the Latin American School of Medicine, the Cuban system of free and universal health care was made real for students. See the Nine Days in Havana Blog for student accounts of these events, or read more about urban agriculture in Cuba on the Student Excerpts page.
