In January 2005, sixteen students from Dickinson College accompanied by their professors, traveled to Montserrat, an island in the West Indies. The purpose of the excursion was to explore the sociological and geological aspects of the island after the disastrous eruption of the South Soufriere Hills which began in 1995. Over the course of two weeks, we conducted approximately twenty interviews with Montserratians and ex-patriots who shared their stories and experiences. The information that we gathered came from first-hand observations, field work, and these accounts.

Excerpts from selected interviews that were conducted by Dickinson students in January, 2005 on the island of Montserrat can also be accessed.
