Montserrat’s recreation is very influenced by the fact that there are few young adults on the island due to the eruption. Many of the people who are of the college age have left the island in order to further their education or find more job opportunities elsewhere.
Daytime recreation may include going to the beach and either going swimming, surfing, snorkeling, barbecuing or just hanging out with friends.
Sports are popular on the island. Some common sports are: basketball, cricket, tennis, hiking and football, or what some may refer to as soccer.
Nighttime recreation may include going to the bars. Sometimes the bars are situated in Montserratian houses. They may be located outside where there is music and dancing. Other bar scenes are more casual where there may be light music or live piano-playing with surrounding pool tables.
