Biographical Information:

Sr. Kay Burton is a Catholic nun, a Sister of the Holy Names, an order originally founded in Montréal, Québec.  Sr. Kay is a highly regarded educator and community activist and organizer in Jonestown, Mississippi.  There she teaches a number of classes, including GED, Montessori, and ‘Girls to Women.’

Interview Information:

Sr. Kay discusses volunteer and community activism by the Sisters of the Holy Names in Jonestown, and globally.  She details a number of grassroots projects completed for and by the Jonestown community.  These include the acquisition of a community track and field, basketball and tennis courts, all created through the efforts of community members and leaders.
